I use facilitation processes such as workshops and interviews to help business stakeholders agree on project objectives and success measures, discover their requirements within the context of the project, highlight the full extent of scenarios and use cases, and achieve agreements and cooperation.
I like to aid the discussion with colourful drawings and pictures. In my experience that makes it easier to explain complex scenarios, achieve consensus, extract requirements and process detail, and even achieve Steering decisions. There’s nothing like a matrix on a whiteboard to help explore an issue fully, or cartoon-like story boards to help pick a business owner’s brain.
Stakeholders are individuals or groups with an interest in the project, programme or portfolio because they are involved in the work or affected by the outcomes. Examples include business teams, technical teams and other projects, as well as other business analysts on the project who may need coordinating, overseeing and knowledge/best practice sharing.
